I am semi-retired and now offering distance reiki sessions only. To request a referral to one of my trusted associates or students, complete the reiki request form.
To prepare to receive reiki:
- complete an intake form
- wear comfortable, non-binding clothing
- use the washroom
- remove jewelry and metals
What to expect for an in-person reiki session:
The practitioner will greet you, review your completed intake form, and respond to any questions you may have. Feel free to share general goals; comprehensive details aren’t necessary.
During the session, you’ll lie on your back on a massage table, fully clothed in a relaxed position. You can choose to be covered with a light sheet or blanket, be supported by pillows, and listen to music, or not. If you wish, you can choose an essential oil and set up your device to record the session.

The aim of reiki is to ensure that your energy is open and flowing. First, your body will be scanned for energetic blockages. Discovering congestion is both typical and instructive: you can learn a lot about how your body reacts to and reflects your physical, emotional, mental and/or spiritual stresses and health.
Reiki practitioners generally focus on the most blocked areas first, then typically move from your head to your feet, hovering above your body or placing my hands gently on various hand positions at the head, throat, chest, abdomen, hips, knees and feet.
Just as every client is special, every reiki session is unique. During the session, you may experience heat, tingling, floating, shaking, crying, stomach gurgling, or even a sudden need to use the washroom! Some people also experience colours, images, stories and insights. Others experience none of these things and simply enjoy deep relaxation. Whatever your experience, trust that reiki is flowing to where it needs to go, clearing blocks, and working for the highest of good.
At a minimum, you can expect reiki to be a relaxing respite from your everyday activities. During your session, you may receive energetic insights that can be so surprising, validating, and helpful that many clients like to record their sessions. Recipients usually experience physical, emotional and / or mental releases.
Some reiki sessions, like the first one I received, can even be transformative! For examples of especially memorable sessions, see the Reiki Stories on this site, and review the testimonials I have received from clients and students.
After the session:
You may wish to reserve some quiet time alone to process and integrate. Drink plenty of water and consider taking a salt bath to promote detox.
Fees:
Reiki Master Practitioner fees are similar to the fees charged by massage therapists. Free and low-cost sessions are available from reiki students training to become practitioners.
Reiki is not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) but some private health insurance providers do cover reiki.
